How to reach

By air

If you are travelling by air the nearest airport to reach Hussain Sagar is the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. From the airport the distance of the lake is around 37 km away. It would approximately take you around 50 minutes to reach the lake from the airport. You can take the city buses from the airport to reach Hussain Sagar. Or else you can also take a car or hire a cab as well to reach the location of the lake from the Hyderabad airport.

By train

If you are travelling by train then the Nampally Railway Station is the nearest railway station to reach Hussain Sagar. From the Nampally Station Hussain Sagar Lake distance is only 5.8 km away. It would approximately take you around 12 minutes to reach the location from the railway station. The most convenient way to reach the location from the railway station would be to take an auto rickshaw. So you can take an auto rickshaw or else you can hire a cab as well from the station to reach the lake.

By road

The city is well connected through roadways so you can travel by road as well. There are both government as well as public buses that you can opt for if you are travelling from nearby major cities or towns. However if you are travelling within the city then also there are the city buses available from different locations to reach the lake. History of Hussain Sagar Lake

The construction of the lake goes back to the 16th century and Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah built this lake. He built this lake in appreciation of Hussain Shah Wali from where the lake got its name. The lake was constructed on a tributary of Musi River in 1563 and from the canals of the Musi River the lake is fed perennially. The main idea behind the creation of this lake was to deal with the water crisis and also to cater to irrigation needs. It was the main source of water till 1930 and was used for that purpose only.

Boating

A boat ride on Hussain Sagar is definitely one of the most interesting activities of this location. Hussain Sagar Lake boating timings are from 8am to 10 pm. There are different charges for different boat rides here.

Mechanized Boat Rs. 50 per person for adults and Rs. 30 per person for a kid below 6 years of age

Rajahamsa Boat Rs. 100

Dance in a boat Rs. 100 per person for adult and Rs. 80 per person for a child

Jet Ski Boat Rs. 250 per person and for couple it is Rs. 350 per couple

Speed Boat Rs. 350 for 4 person

Water Sports

For people who love adventure activities a visit to Hussain Sagar would truly be extremely interesting for them. There are multiple options for adventure activities here that you can enjoy.

Parasailing Rs. 300 per person

Jet Ski Rs. 250 for a person and Rs. 350 per couple

Cruise Rs. 8000 approx for first 2 hours and after that Rs. 3000 per hour

Musical Floating Fountain

The Floating Musical Fountain is also yet another major attraction at the lake here. Furthermore the floating fountain here is also one of the best things that Hyderabad tourism promotes. The fountain here is the largest musical fountain in India and it spans for 180 meters in length, 90 meters in height and 10 meters in width.
