How to reach

By air

The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad is the nearest airport to reach the tombs. From there the location is 14.2 km away and you can reach there in about 30 minutes. You can easily take a car or hire a cab to reach the tomb from the airport.

By train

While traveling in a train the nearest railway station to reach Paigah Tombs Hyderabad is the Falaknuma Railway Station. From there the location of the tomb is 5.2 km away. It would take you around 15 minutes to reach the location from Falaknuma Station. You can easily take an auto rickshaw from the station to reach the tombs. Or else take a car or a cab as well to reach there easily.

By road

If you are travelling by road then you can take buses to reach the tombs. However the location is situated in the interior of the city. So you will have to take buses to reach Pisalabanda Bus Stop which is the nearest bus stop. From there the tomb is located at a distance of 550 meters away. It would hardly take you a 6 to 7 minutes walk from the bus stop to reach the location. You can take the auto rickshaws in the city as well to reach the location nearby. However since the location of the tombs is located in the interior of the city you must follow online maps to locate the exact spot. By metro

In case you wish to travel by metro then the nearest metro station is the Malakpet Metro Station. From the metro station the location of the tomb is about 5.7 km. The construction of this location dates back to the late 18th century and is one of the finest examples of architectural brilliance. The architecture of the tomb follows a beautiful Indo Saracenic architecture. Its future reflects a beautiful blend of Rajputani style of architecture along with Asaf Jah style. The construction is white built in white marbles and has beautiful intricate interior designs. History of Paigah Tombs

Abdul Fateh Khan Tegh Jung founded the Paigah Nobility and also served the second Nizam of Hyderabad. The Nizam had also bestowed on him the title of Shams-ul-umra that means the sun amongst the masses. In the year 1786 Abdul Fateh Khan Tegh Jung was buried at the entrance of the complex. His tomb furthermore represents beautiful architecture that looks mesmerizing. There is majestic lattice work on it along with a massive canopy. Later his son Amir E Kabir had renovated his tomb. Later the location came to be popular as Paigah Tombs. However, it also became the last adobe for resting of other members of the Paigah family as well.

The Paigah Tombs have graves of many members of the family. These members also enjoyed the primary nobility in the Nizam’s court as well. Moreover, the Paigahs also married daughters of the Nizams. They were therefore high ranking nobles after the Nizams in the princely state of Hyderabad back in the times. Also the Paigahs were the only ones whom the Nizams had permitted to have their own private army. At the Paigah Tombs some of the notable tombs are of Sultan-ul-Mulk, Zaheer yar Jung, Shams-ul-Umra, Sir Viqar-ul-Umar, Asman Jah, Khursheed Jah etc.

Architecture of Paigah Tombs

One of the major attractions of the Paigah Tombs is obviously the architecture of the tombs. What makes the tombs here unique is the decoration that is exceptional and crafted in geometrical patterns. The designs are skillfully carved and it reflects the finest craftsmanship and the skill as well. There are further inlaid mosaic tile work on them that looks splendid in its appearance. The tombs here are located adjacent to each other in a line. On top of each tomb you will find names of the Paigah. While on some tombs you will find boards that highlight some of the important members of the family along with the name of the Nizam whom they had once served.
